As the UAE braces for another sweltering day, residents should prepare for scorching temperatures and elevated humidity levels. According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), conditions remain oppressively hot with a possibility of fog developing overnight in cities such as Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi.
Blistering Temperatures Across the Emirates
Forecasts indicate that the weather will stay predominantly clear with occasional cloudiness over the eastern coast. Inland areas will bear the brunt of the heat, with temperatures soaring into the low-40s. Dubai and Sharjah are expected to reach 40°C, while Abu Dhabi could peak at 42°C. The highest temperatures will occur in Liwa, where the mercury might climb to 44°C.
Coastal areas will experience slightly lower temperatures ranging from 36°C to 40°C. Meanwhile, the mountainous regions will enjoy somewhat cooler weather, with temperatures anticipated between 34°C and 38°C.
Fog and Reduced Visibility: A Potential Hazard
The NCM has issued a warning about increasing humidity levels overnight, which may lead to mist and fog formation in various coastal and internal areas. Motorists should be vigilant, as visibility might be significantly reduced in these conditions, especially during the early morning hours.
Winds will be light to moderate, shifting from southwesterly to northwesterly patterns, and are expected to reach speeds of up to 35 km/h.
Choppy Seas Pose Risks for Beachgoers
Individuals planning to visit beaches should remain cautious due to potentially rough sea conditions, particularly along the western coast near Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The Arabian Gulf is expected to experience turbulent waters in the morning, gradually calming and transitioning to moderate to slight by evening. Onshore wave heights could range from two to four feet, increasing to six feet offshore. As a result, daytime beach activities are discouraged.
The Sea of Oman will see slight to moderate conditions, with average wave heights measuring between two and four feet along the UAE’s eastern coast.
Weekend Weather Outlook
The NCM predicts a continuation of these warm and humid conditions throughout the weekend. Temperatures will likely remain in the low- to mid-40s, accompanied by humid nights and the potential for early morning mist. While the Arabian Gulf and Sea of Oman are expected to remain calm, creating favorable conditions for evening beach activities, caution is still advised.
