Emirates Expands Operations with Second Daily A350 Flight to Colombo
In a significant move to enhance passenger experience, Emirates is set to introduce an additional Airbus A350 service between Dubai and Colombo starting August 8. This expansion will double the number of daily flights featuring the sought-after Premium Economy cabin, replacing the existing Boeing 777 on this route.
Commitment to Enhanced Travel Experience
By deploying a second A350 for flights EK648/649, Emirates not only increases the frequency of its Premium Economy offerings but also reaffirms its dedication to providing superior comfort and choice for travelers. Currently, the airline operates a combination of four daily flights to Colombo employing both Airbus A350 and Boeing 777 aircraft.
Flight EK648 is scheduled to depart daily from Dubai International Airport at 16:10, arriving at Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport at 22:10. The return flight, EK649, will leave Colombo at 02:55, reaching Dubai at 05:50. This new schedule, complemented by the existing EK654/655 service, offers passengers more flexibility in travel times and opportunities to enjoy the Premium Economy class.

The Airbus A350 marks a new era for Emirates’ fleet, bringing the latest in aviation technology and passenger comfort. The aircraft is designed with spacious and bright cabins, offering enhanced space and amenities across all travel classes. The introduction of a second daily A350 service builds on the successful launch of the aircraft on the Colombo route in March 2025, a period that also saw the debut of Emirates’ Premium Economy in Sri Lanka. This strategic expansion underscores the airline’s ongoing investment in the Sri Lankan market, highlighting its commitment to supporting tourism and trade in the region.
Currently, Emirates offers three non-stop daily flights on the Colombo-Dubai route, with an additional service via Male. Alongside the A350-operated flights EK648/649 and EK654/655, services on the Boeing 777 such as EK650/651 and EK652/653 continue to provide diverse options for travelers.
