Dubai: The United Arab Emirates is witnessing a surge in humidity levels, causing morning fog and decreased visibility, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). The weather authority has issued warnings for motorists to drive cautiously under these conditions.

The NCM has predicted a mix of fair to partly cloudy skies throughout the day. There’s a possibility of convective cloud development in the eastern and southern regions by afternoon, potentially bringing rainfall. This atmospheric behavior is common during this season, often resulting in unexpected weather shifts.
Humidity Levels and Visibility Concerns
The internal areas of the UAE are experiencing humidity levels ranging from 65% to 85%, while mountainous, coastal, and island regions are seeing higher figures between 70% and 90%. These high humidity levels are conducive to the formation of mist and fog, particularly overnight and during early morning hours. Affected areas include major emirates such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, where visibility can drop to zero, increasing the risk of road accidents.

Temperature Soars to Mid-40s
Amid the rising humidity, temperatures in the UAE continue to hover at high levels. Coastal and island areas are expected to record temperatures between 40°C and 45°C, while internal regions are likely to experience even higher temperatures ranging from 44°C to a scorching 49°C.
In Abu Dhabi, the maximum temperature is forecasted to reach 46°C, with Dubai and Sharjah both hitting 45°C. Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah are anticipated to have highs of 44°C, whereas Fujairah will be slightly cooler at 36°C. Al Ain and Liwa are projected to endure the highest temperatures in the country, at 47°C and 49°C respectively.
Wind and Sea Conditions
The NCM has also noted that light to moderate winds are expected to prevail, occasionally freshening up to 35 km/h along the coastal areas. Sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf are predicted to be slight, with gentle waves reaching two feet onshore and up to three feet offshore. Meanwhile, the Sea of Oman is expected to have slight to moderate conditions, with waves heights reaching two feet onshore and up to four feet offshore.
